2023 – The Year of A New Creation
2022 is about to pass and a new year is about to be born. Many people from around the world and in every nation start the new year with a new year’s resolution. These resolutions can be profound, simple, huge. life changing, short lived, last the year, bring wealth, or even bring disaster. What they all have in common is change. We all want (for the most part) to be better. Represent ourselves better, look, better, and certainly feel better.
What all of this has in common is, it is about self. Self is important, but self doesn’t bring lasting change for most of us. What does bring change is God.
This year, let us bring God to the forefront of our lives.
The question is, how is this accomplished? Well, the answer is quite simple. Simple does not mean easy. Simple means that, you can see the answer, the dictionaries definition is, “Having few parts or features; not complicated or elaborate.”
What does God’s word say about God being the focal point?
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
So the answer is first seek God’s kingdom and all of these will be handed unto you. What does God’s Kingdom look like here on earth?
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
We can clearly see that God’s Kingdom here on earth is righteousness, peace, joy, and the Holy Spirit.
What is it that you want this year? Is it a better body, a better mind, a better soul? More wealth?
If it is more wealth, then the answer can be found here.
Matthew 25:14-30
“Parable of the Talents”
“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money. Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
If you are looking for a better version of yourself to be brought forth this new year, then first seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Then do all in the name of the Lord. Give away what doesn’t belong to you. Then when the time is right, the Lord will return and increase you. Your blessings will overflow and your overflow will bless those who are around you. This new years let us make God’s kingdom our New Year’s Resolution.
